HIP-4 Opens Up

Outcome takes an early lead as markets go permissionless

Happy Monday! Kevin Warsh’s hawkish Jackson Hole speech pushed rate hike odds to 60% and sent equities and gold lower. BTC still finished the week 0.9% higher, while a burst of speculation on Robinhood Chain drove UNI and the DEX sector sharply higher.

We then look at Hyperliquid’s decision to open HIP-4 outcome markets to outside builders. Outcome and Skew have each posted a $40M HYPE bond, but incentives have given Outcome a clear early lead.

Market Update

Over the last week, BTC was the only benchmark to finish in the green, gaining a modest 0.9%. The S&P 500 fell 0.1%, the Nasdaq 100 declined 0.4% and gold was the weakest performer at -3.7%. Much of the selling came on Friday following Kevin Warsh’s speech at Jackson Hole.

Warsh’s hawkish tone caught the market off guard. He pointed to the continued resilience of the US economy and warned that policy may need to respond if disinflation does not progress quickly enough. The odds of a September rate hike have since risen from 37% a week ago to 60% today. This repricing weighed on equities and rate-sensitive gold, while BTC gave back part of its earlier gains but still ended the week higher.

Within crypto, DEXs were the strongest sector, gaining 11.4%. The move was led by UNI, which rose 12.8% and accounts for 63% of the index.

UNI’s rally followed a sharp increase in volumes on Robinhood Chain, driven by meme tokens paired with tokenized equities. Average daily volumes rose close to 150% over the week, with Robinhood Chain accounting for 40% of Uniswap’s total volume on Aug. 29.

The increase has flowed directly to UNI since the fee switch. Close to 80% of Uniswap’s protocol revenue came from Robinhood Chain on Aug. 29, while the value of UNI burned is starting to consistently approach $500K daily.

The chain also produced several strong runners over the week. PONS, the token behind its leading launchpad, gained 380%, while Artificial Inu, paired with tokenized Nvidia, rose 270%. Several tokens reached valuations between $10M and $50M as much of the week’s onchain speculation concentrated on Robinhood Chain. These meme and tokenized equity pairs also pushed tokenized equity volume on the chain to $126M on Aug. 29.

Onchain speculative activity is showing clear signs of returning as BTC moves higher. Whether it remains concentrated on Robinhood Chain may depend on how aggressively Robinhood lists native tokens in its main app. Continued listings would give projects on the chain a distribution advantage that competitors cannot easily replicate, providing a strong catalyst for Robinhood Chain and, by extension, UNI.

HIP-4 Goes Permissionless

With this weekend's upgrade, Hyperliquid moved outcome markets from validator-deployed to builder-deployed. Deployers post the same 500K HYPE bond as HIP-3, just over $40M at current prices, locked for six months and slashable by validator vote for ill-defined markets, missettlement, or leaving a market unsettled past a week. Listing requires no approval: parameters go into one of seven validator-approved templates (price binaries, touches, scalar ranges, policy-rate decisions), each settling automatically on TWAPs of Hyperliquid's own marks. In return, deployers keep up to half of trading fees and start with an allocation of 100 open outcomes, slots recycling as markets settle, with plans to raise the limit to 1K and then 5K once the system proves stable.

Two deployers have posted the bond: Outcome.xyz, the self-funded team that already built a frontend for the validator-deployed outcome markets, and Skew Technologies, backed by Nasdaq-listed Hyperion DeFi, which agreed in July to deploy 500K HYPE.

Of the 41 outcome contracts live this morning, 33 come from the two deployers, while the remaining eight are the original validator dailies (Hyperliquid API, August 29 to 31). The catalogs split cleanly: Outcome listed markets across crypto ladders, a September FOMC market and daily binaries on xyz's equity perps, turning over roughly $1.6M since Saturday, while Skew's seven index and BTC listings have traded under $1K.

Outcome paired the launch with a $1M rewards program for traders. Skew has announced no incentives, but its agreement with Hyperion contemplates a possible Skew token, which leaves room for a points campaign to precede it.

Still, another player may be waiting silently: xyz, the dominant HIP-3 deployer, has purchased additional HYPE, bringing its stake to 1M, enough to post a HIP-4 bond with what its HIP-3 deployment leaves free.

Collector Crypt’s first-year retrospective details how the platform crossed $1B in gross revenue, reached a peak of $21.5M in weekly gacha volume and built the physical infrastructure needed to store and ship tokenized collectibles globally. The main update concerns $CARDS: Collector Crypt accumulated 22.5M tokens through programmatic buybacks, equal to roughly 5.4% of circulating supply, before burning them. The team emphasizes that these tokens were acquired through real platform and trading activity rather than taken from its foundation allocation. It also confirmed one final 0.75% non-drop before future quarterly distributions fall to 0.5%.

Entropy outlined its framework for creating perpetual markets around “frontier assets,” assets with meaningful demand but no liquid, continuously accessible spot market. For pre-IPO companies, where there is neither a reliable spot price nor a known listing date, Entropy uses market-cap-denominated perpetuals designed to eventually converge toward the company’s IPO valuation. The key innovation is the oracle: rather than permanently anchoring the market to stale private-market marks, Entropy dynamically weights external references against its own orderbook based on executable liquidity, giving the internal market more influence as depth improves and shifting back toward external pricing when liquidity deteriorates.

The model is already live for its Anthropic market, which Entropy says has maintained sub-1-bp spreads and less than 2 bps of price impact on a $10K market order, with the broader ambition of extending the same architecture to equities, indices, GPU compute and other assets that have demand but lack continuous spot markets
